Kai to Pie, Coffee Festival
|
|
Tuesday 31 Aug 2010
Coffee has played an important role in society throughout history. In Africa and Yemen, it was used in religious ceremonies. The drink was banned in Mecca during the 16th century following concern coffee houses were becoming hotbeds of political dissent. The first coffee house in England was set up in 1650, and the drink arrived in New Zealand with earliest European colonists. However, it wasn’t until the influx of American soldiers during World War II that Aucklanders truly began to embrace coffee.
Auckland Museum’s Coffee Festival showcases the glorious history of coffee in Auckland. Straight, short, tall, black, white and everything in between — indulge your coffee obsession at the inaugural Auckland Museum Coffee Festival. There will be Ethiopian coffee ceremonies, talks and coffee sampling, and free fluffies for the kids.
We'll be showcasing the Aeropress, a wonderfully low tech and affordable way of preparing delicious coffee at home. You can also get Caffe L'affare coffee from the inner espresso machine from 10am.
When? Sat 19 Sept
Where? Auckland Museum

Our Coffee for Amnesty
|
|
Friday 23 Jul 2010
We're at Food Show in Auckland next week and we thought why not do something nice for a cause we support.
This year our hot coffee will be by donation to Amnesty International, whose appeal week is in the week following the Show.
We hope to raise at least $2000 for the organisation that campaigns for internationally recognised human rights to be respected and protected for everyone.
